"Earlier this year, I was asked to provide my opinion on the quality of 12 different strains being produced by six different licensed producers. I was shocked to discover that only two of the 12 strains were good enough to compete with black-market pot, and six of the 12 strains had a mothball taste that rendered the pot so noxious it was impossible to smoke. The Humboldt Backyard

Comparison of the Humboldt Backyard to the Cannabis Caddy

www.HumboldtLightDep.com

Its manufacturer
Humboldt Light Dep is a well-established greenhouse manufacturer located in California's " Emerald Triangle".  They make a highly-regarded line of commercial greenhouses used by many local light-dep cannabis growers.  Humboldt's latest " Backyard" version of their automated greenhouses is scaled down to meet the needs of home-growers who can now legally cultivate a small crop for personal use.

The greenhouse's features
The Backyard model that you see above measures 8' wide x 12' long x 7' high.  Both of its ends are permanently blacked-out to partially light-deprive the plants inside.  To achieve full light-deprivation, electric motors (actuated by a programmable timer) are used to spool two blackout tarps up and down the curved sides of the structure.  Note that in most backyards, shading from the two opaque end-walls and from nearby structures will inevitably cause shading of the plants as the sun moves across the sky. Ideally, their whole greenhouse could pivot on a turntable to follow the sun and optimize photosynthesis.

Automated light-deprivation:
In the photo, you can see both blackout tarps are spooled up to the top so that sunlight can penetrate through the translucent inner tarp and onto the growing plants (the angle of the photo makes the translucent tarp appear white).  When compared to the Cannabis Caddy, the Humboldt Backyard's automatic tarp deployment mechanism gives the Backyard a significant labor-saving advantage because a Caddy owner must manually actuate the light-dep mechanism every day.

To practice light-deprivation in a Caddy, you have to commit to getting covering and covering your crop every day to precisely simulate the sorter days needed to provoke early flowering.. It only takes a few seconds to do each time however the need to be punctual and dedicated in this daily regimen is a drawback when compared to the motorized automation of the Humboldt Backyard.

Most manual light-deppers elect to cover their plants after supper to simulate an early sunset and 12-hour days.  Typically they will also visit their plants just before bedtime to uncover their plants so they can enjoy the night breeze.  That evening light-dep schedule allows the Caddy farmer to sleep knowing that the natural sunrise wakes up their plants.  People who early-risers can do their daily  light-dep chores at the start of day but no matter which way it is done, the farmer must adhere to the schedule.

On the plus side, the need for a Caddy owner to visit their crop every day presents a good opportunity to tend to other plant nurturing tasks such as the intensive pruning work associated with its 3D trellis (see slide #4).  Enforced daily nurturing visits also fits well with the need to assess daily weather conditions and decide on whether or not to deploy the translucent cage-hood (see slide #10) and whether or not it's calm enough to deploy the solar-concentration feature or the wind-stabilization feature (see slide #12 see slide #15).

Regardless of the need to manually light-dep your crop, frequent visits to your Caddy will enable you to monitor its solar exposure and move it as needed (see slide #2A).  Unless you work at home, you'll probably need to share some of these Caddy-tending tasks with family or neighbours.  Like all farming families, everyone involved can share in the pleasure of the work and the pleasure of the harvest.

Growing cannabis in a Caddy requires intense Tender Loving Care from humans in order for the relationship work. It's somewhat analogous to owning a dog; dog-walkers understand how much effort is involved in proper care of their furry best-friend... they also understand that Mother Nature will pay them back with interest in the form of more happiness and better physical health.  It's the same for a Caddy-owner's daily dedication; it will be repaid with interest when its time to harvest the crop.

Crop ventilation
Ventilation in the Humboldt Backyard is achieved by partially raising one or both of the translucent inner tarps (you can see the vent's black draw-cords in the photo).  Cool air enters through the opened vents at ground level whereupon it rises through the plants to exit via an air-exhaust port located on the end-walls (one is visible on the door).

Note that when the Backyard's light-dep tarps are lowered, they prevent air from entering the structure via the opened vents at the bottom of the translucent inner tarps.  That cuts off ventilation during daily light-deprivation; it's a real disadvantage because it will tend to suffocate or overheat the plants.  Please also note that the Caddy's light-baffled venting system allows air to flow freely at all times (see slide #7)

Like all of Humboldt's greenhouses, their Backyard model provides access to the crop via a doorway located on one of its two blocked-off end walls.  Inside, an aisle must be left open along the middle of the greenhouse so that the gardener can walk about to ten whatever number of potted plants they are cultivating; the pots are placed either on the floor or possibly raised on benches for easier tending.

‍‍ The Humboldt Backyard's cost
The 12-foot long version of the Backyard shown above costs $5000 USD ($6600 CAD).  Humboldt rates its yield at 4 pounds (1800 grams) which, if were retailed @$10/gram woul‍d value the crop at $18,000.

Its manufacturer
Visionary Technology Inc. is an Ottawa design company.  We've been in making tools for over 20 years and during that time have produced an eclectic variety of innovative products.  Cannabis Caddy is our latest  problem-solving project.

It was designed to conform to new Canadian cannabis legislation; by doing so it enables northern gardeners to grow up to 4 legal plants for recreational use (people with a medical need can use multiple caddies to home-grow up to 99 plants).

This was a golden opportunity to develop a totally new kind of gardening tool; one that's specifically optimized for home-growing and for light-deprivation.  An outside consultant who has been growing black-market cannabis using light-deprivation for over 25 years will assist us in creating our "Caddy Coach" library of instructional videos.

The greenhouse's features
The Humboldt Backyard is essentially their large commercial greenhouse scaled down in size to fit in a typical backyard.  The Caddy has been designed from the ground up to be used in typical backyards.

The Caddy is much smaller and more aesthetically pleasing  than typical greenhouses; it's even small enough to fit on many south-facing apartment balconies.  If there's a BBQ in your backyard (or on your balcony) then you need a Cannabis Caddy to keep it company.  Like your BBQ, fast access to the Caddy will give you fast access to a fresh food supply... however this food source is far healthier for you than anything you can cook on the grill.

Our ground-up redesign of how a greenhouse works has resulted in a number of significant advantages. The Caddy's wheeled mobility enables it to "Follow The Sun" and maximizing solar exposure is the only way to insure optimal growth.  Unlike the much larger  Humboldt Backyard, the plants growing inside a Caddy are tended from outside the structure so there's no interior space wasted to allow for human mobility.  Its 3D interior trellis enables for optimal pruning and that too improves yields.

To understand all of the Caddy's features and why it's the ideal gardening tool for backyard growers, please take a few minutes to click through this slideshow.

The Caddy's cost
In approximately six months (by June of 2019), our production process will be fully implemented and Cannabis Caddies will be shipping in volume. Once that happens, they will sell for $735 USD (that's about $975 CAD).  Its product specs and options are listed here.

Our launch and marketing strategy is to offer significant discounts and financial perks to early adopters... see the Special Introductory Offer below.  The Caddy is a gardening tool that's legal to own everywhere, so this offer is open to all residents of both Canada and the USA (regardless of what state or province they live in).

If $735 strikes you as a lot to pay for a fancy wheelbarrow, then consider the cost and functionality offered by the only other light-dep gardening tool on the market.  The Humboldt Backyard described above costs $5000... even if you don't take advantage of our early adopter Special Offer, you could still buy 7 Cannabis Caddies for that price!  If purchased through the Special Introductory Offer, your would get 9 Caddies instead of 7.  Contact us for volume or dealership pricing.

At VTI we're fanatic about mechanical details and functional efficiency: the Caddy you receive will include a finely-crafted cedar growing pot that's intended to come indoors during the winter months and look beautiful in your living room (while you grow your third annual crop).

Anyone who has assembled flat-pack furniture will be able to put together the partially preassembled Caddy in about 30 minutes.  Adding glue to the screwed-together pre-drilled wooden components will create an extremely strong wheeled cedar growing pot.

The Trellis-Cage and two hood-cassettes are similarly well-crafted and easy to assemble.  Those metal and plastic parts clip onto that cart in a few minutes.  Just follow along with the first of our step-by-step instruction videos and you'll be ready to start enjoying your small urban farm.

Crop yield and payback time
Home-growing in a Caddy (instead of in an industrial environment : ) is a bit like raising free-range chickens.  Just like those chickens, cannabis in a Caddy enjoys the most natural environment possible and that results in a higher quality of product.  Your organically grown plants get the perfect amount of intense sunshine every day that naturally induces optimal flowering.  They also enjoy fresh air whenever possible, protection from bad weather when needed, optimal root aeration, optimal watering and trellising to guide growth in the natural way possible.  You'll be raising very happy plants that reward you for your Tender Loving Care at harvest time!

The Caddy is also a gardening tool that rapidly pays for itself.  If you follow our Caddy Coach's growing instructions, you can expect to harvest between 500 and 750 grams of the finest quality cannabis (trimmed flower buds).  See Slide #4 to understand how this miniature greenhouse can produce such a dense crop of sun-ripened buds.

A key byproduct of each crop is the ongoing trimmings that can be used as a fresh raw source of healthy cannabinoids in your diet.   Watch this video to understand how vitally important this new food source the leafy byproduct can be to you and your family.

At current prices for high-quality recreational cannabis, that first crop will be worth between $5000 and $7500. Use of light-deprivation in our Canadian climate will enable you to make two outdoor harvests per year (by deploying the translucent hood-cover when needed to protect against early and late frosts). So in your first year you might harvest about $15K worth of weed that you've had fun growing.  If you've been good to it then it will be good to you : )

In addition to harvesting two outdoor crops; each crop yielding between 500 to 750 grams of flowers plus about 1000 grams of trimmings ( for kitchen use), in winter you'll be able to wheel your Caddy indoors and use it to produce a third crop (that's somewhat smaller).  To grow it indoors, the optional lighting kit is used inside of the light-dep trellis-cage hood.  The reflective inner surface simulates the performance you could get when using a traditional "indoor grow-tent system" a side benefit the Caddy's appearance is far more presentable in your living space (see slides #9 and #13).

Answer

Question #2

It's a zero-risk deal that enables your Caddy to potentially cost you $0.00

  • Right off the bat, all of our early adopters will get a $200 price discount (their Caddy will cost $535 instead of its $735 regular price).
  • Read this product comparison analysis to understand why (even at its full (post-June) price), the Caddy is a high-value bargain that will pay for itself within a few months.

In addition to their $200 Early-Bird discount, early adopters will also have the ability to earn further price reductions, simply by telling their friends about this website.  Each of your friend referrals can automatically reduce the price you'll pay when your Caddy finally ships in June.  If you have enough social media influence, the price you eventually pay could drop all the way to zero (if you earn 53 referrals through your social network).

Here's how the price discounting works
    • Click on the "Buy Now" button below to reserve your Caddy with a $175 deposit (that's about $230 CAD)
      • Your $175 deposit will create a new account page for you in our database.  You can log into it anytime to check on your Caddy's delivery status.  What's really cool is that while waiting for it to ship you'll also be able to track its current (ever-decreasing) balance owing.  With a bit of diligence on your part, that balance owing will go all the way to $0.00 and your Caddy will be free (you'll just have to pay the shipping).
      • Note that at any time while waiting for your Caddy to ship, you have the option to click on the " I've changed my mind" button located on your account page.  Doing so will cancel your order and refund your full $200 deposit back onto your credit card or into your PayPal account.
        • That zero-risk ability to cancel at any time is one of three ways that our funding model is superior to conventional Crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter.
          1) You can change your mind at any time (you get locked into any funded Kickstarter project).
          2) This funding model only requires you to pay 33% up front (instead of pledging and paying 100%).

          3) The biggest "perk" this model offers compared to conventional Crowdfunding is that (while waiting for your project perk to finally ship) it enables you to earn substantial price reductions by making referrals.
    • Here's how referrals can reduce your cost to zero
      • When you create your user account (by paying the $200 deposit) you'll be asked for the usual stuff: your username, its password, your email address and your shipping address.  You will also be prompted to provide the username of another account holder.
        • Your "Referring Sponsor's Username" ("RSU") refers to whoever turned you onto this website and (possibly) helped you understand why buying a Cannabis Caddy is a great investment.
          • Your RSU can be anyone who is part of this referral perks program.  It might be someone who is a Facebook friend who posted a link to their page.  It could be a Twitter follower, a classmate or a neighbor down the street.Anyone interested in cannabis and suggested you visit this website is a potential RSU.
            • Question:
What if I somehow found this website offer on my own.  I don't know anybody who is already an account-holder here.  Alternatively; I have a friend who recommended the Caddy but i don't know their username to input here.  What do I do?
            • Answer:
If a friend steered you here and they are likely to have mentioned their username to you; every time it gets used they save more money so you'd be doing them a favour to get it from them.

But don't worry if for whatever reason you don't have a valid RSU that belongs to a friend, don't worry; to initiate your account you can simply type in one of these 5 default RSUs: " Justin_Trudeau", "Jeff_Sessions", "TheDonald", "Obama_Inhaled" or "HealthForHillary"
      • Here's what gives it Viral Marketing Power...
        • As soon as you enter a valid RSU into your account page (even TheDonald's : ) two very interesting things will happen:
          1) Your own account balance will decrease by $10 (from $360 to $350)
          2) The account balance of your friend who referred you will also decrease by $10.  Each time their RSU is cited by a new Caddy customer, the new referral perk will cause their account balance will decrease another $10.
          • After 35 referrals from friends who you've steered to the website, your account balance will have fallen to $0.00 owing.  We'll allow your $10 referral credits to continue to up to a maximum of 18 (i.e. we'll owe you back your original $175 deposit +$5).  We'll credit that amount to your account and refund any balance left over from paying the shipping cost to your location.
            • This is a "One-per-customer" offer so our 5 default RSUs (Mr. Trudeau, Mr. Sessions, Mr. Trump, Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton) will only be able to receive a single free Cannabis Caddy as a result of the public's generosity in citing them during the account creation process.  We look forward to sending them their gift from "We The People" : )
        • As time goes by referrals will increase virally because each new Caddy customer has a financial incentive to spread the word about this Revolutionary Invention to all of their friends.  As those friends realize the benefits of starting their own personal Cannabis Farm, they too will sign up and grow the reach and acceptance of project geometrically.
        • During the few months that you'll be waiting for us get our manufacturing debugged and humming, you'll have plenty of opportunity to spread the word about Cannabis Caddy to all your friends and family (letting them know your username for if they decide to purchase one).  Your account balance will shrink by $10 each time one of sign up using you as a referral  DESCRIBE HOW ACCOUNT PAGE UPDATES
          • DESCRIBE EFFECT OF THE "I CHANGED MY MIND" BUTTON ON FINANCES
        • Even if you don't avail yourself of any of the discounts described above... even at full price, the Caddy is the best bargain in the Cannabis industry!
  • Perhaps you won't avail yourself of the discounts described above, once you see and you wait until after June to purchase one once you've seen this gardening tool in action in a neighbor's backyard you'll realize that Cannabis Caddy is the best investment you can make in the Cannabis industry!
